National Hug Your Cat day i.e. National Cat Day

HAPPY NATIONAL CAT DAY!!! If you are reading this on the 30th no need to worry, every day is National Cat Day in our book.

We are the biggest cat lady wannabes.

Sadly, we cannot own a cat due to our current situation :(
So obviously that means:
1. Owning a vast amount of cat apparel is a must.
2. On occasion we call our dogs cats, just for fun. (As specially the little one, she could definitely pass for a cat.)

Hug your kitty(s) for us!

If you don't have a kitty, you could always look at cat memes on Pinterest... or hug someone else's cat.

Be a deer, and come to the park

Fawns make me happy. They encompass two of my favorite things: the woods, and things that are cute and cuddly. Sadly I do not have access to a fawn of my own, so I must resort to the internet, books and this shirt.

Geek out

Wearing a tee shirt is the perfect way to blast your personality at the highest volume possible.
I have always been a fan of geek wear, yup I'm a geek. Now you know.
My Hogwarts shirt is so faded it looks like I was held hostage in the black lake for years.
If you think of anything more majestic than a lion and a unicorn floating in space, please contact me immediately. So I can frame it.

There is only one problem, ModCloth doesn't carry this any more. What am I supposed to do when/if I get spaghetti sauce on it??? This is a MAJOR dilemma we must find a solution for.

I am sending all of you on a quest! To find an article of clothing that is just as amazing or is a close second, so we can all purchase it and become buddies.

Shark Bait

This bag makes me so happy. It's my mom's. I can't get over the fact that every time she goes to get her keys, sunglasses etc. it looks like her arm is getting ripped off by a man eating carnivorous beast of death.
Plus, I adore big bags. How else am I supposed to sneak my cupcake into the movie theater???
Outtakes are on Instagram

"From this moment on, you shall now be known as Sharkbait. Sharkbait! Hoo ha ha!
Welcome, Brother Sharkbait! Sharkbait! Hoo ha ha! Enough with the Sharkbait.
Sharkbait! Hoo... bop pa doo." - Finding Nemo, Pixar 2003

Now all I need is a cool coin purse.

You can be excellent in every way.

You can be excellent in every way. You can be first class. There is no need for you to be a scrub. Respect yourself. Do not feel sorry for yourself. Do not dwell on unkind things others may say about you. Polish and refine whatever talents the Lord has given you. Go forward in life with a twinkle in your eye and a smile on your face, but with great and strong purpose in your heart. Love life and look for its opportunities.

"knitter" button tutorial

Remember this post? I thought it would be a grand idea to do a tutorial on how I made my "knitter" pin. It was super easy to make, it's a great conversation starter and I believe the knitters of this universe need to come out of the shadows.

You will need:
- A circular piece of cardboard 1" in diameter
- Yarn in the color of your choice
A Clear Plastic Button
- Mini knitting needles.
Note: I got mine from a craft store that is now out of businesses.
I'll keep you guys posted if I find something similar.
For the time being, I would glue two round beads onto a pair of tooth picks.
- A piece of paper with "knitter" written nice and neat.
- Lace
- A Hot glue gun
- Scissors

Step one:
Put a dab of glue onto your cardboard round and wrap the yarn until the cardboard is no longer visible. Put more glue on as you go.

Step two:
Poke the mini knitting needles into the ball of yarn according to your fancy.
Then glue it onto the button.

Step three:
Glue on the "knitter" tag.
Finish off your badge with the trim of your choice.

That's it folks! I can't wait to see what kind of variations you come up with!
Please tag us @kenna_and_lulu on Instagram so we can see your
crafty creation!

Cheers! -Kenna

Moccasins, snails and an Octopus too!

If you love something, it really shouldn't matter where it's from.
This is definitely one of my favorite dresses of all time, and I got it at Walmart. (I added the denim on the bottom because the length was a bit weird) I have definitely been guilty of feeling ashamed because 99% of my stuff isn't name brand or I bought it second hand, but seriously guys-- if you love it who cares! As long as it makes you feel like a million bucks it doesn't matter if you got it at a yard sale or from Nordstrom.

I am obsessed with moccasins. Every time I wear these I get the sudden urge to frolic through a meadow or hold hands with a jolly racoon. Okay the racoon may be a little far-fetched, but you get the idea.

I crimped my hair by doing two french braids while it was damp.

Glad to be Plaid

My Grandma is so amazing; Her nickname is grandma fireworks for good reason. Last Saturday, she came by for a visit and brought this treasure. The skirt I'm wearing, was one of her school skirts while she was in high school. She said I could have it (THANK YOU GRANDMA!!!!) as long as I remember to get it dry cleaned, and not to throw it in the dryer. We did the math and figured she would have bought it around 1943. The tag is worn out but everything else is in pretty good condition. The necklace I'm wearing is a mini harmonica... yes it works. If the conversation gets a bit dull just give it a toot and poof! all of your problems are gone!

Knitter

This last week, I had the wondrous opportunity to walk down memory lane. As a youngster I would head down to the library, knitting needles in hand, and attend knitting club.
I don't have that kind of time anymore, but it was fun to swing by and say hi to my homies.
Yes, there is a slight gap in our ages... okay, 50 years. Never the less, these ladies are great!
I now know more about hot flashes and shingles than I ever thought I would.

I made my button/badge :)

Safety first

Kenna here! There's something about a super solid heel that makes me feel safe in this world. I'm not one to go waltzing around in heels, so these are perfect for me! Anything that's higher than 2 1/2 inches, or looks like I'm walking on a chopstick is a no go. Look up what a baby lamb looks like when he's just learning how to walk, and you'll get the picture.
Thanks Lulu for letting me borrow the shirt, scarf, earrings... okay so I raided your closet.

Say cheesy!

Life is meant to be enjoyed... or laughed at.

What in the world do you say in a first post? 1. Hello citizens of earth. This is a blog.
2. uuuuuuuuh...hhhhiiiiiiiiiieeeeee.... 3. *do the Tarzan thing where your hands meet*
(let us know which one is your favorite)

First item of business, our mission statement.
  • We promise to make things FUN.
  • We hope and plan to NEVER put anyone down. This world needs more individuality. Lets love and embrace everyone for who they are as a person, not based on there current situation.
  • We will never do the duck face, a haul or model something we wouldn't wear for our grandma.
  • We will be Honest and only put things on here if we REALLY liked it. That means if we REALLY thought it was ugly, we will let you know. But kindly! We promise. :)

Great! Now back to blogging.

Kenna extending her lips in your general direction.

Life is meant to be enjoyed... or laughed at. You choose.
Soooo ya, we have a blog. Yea. *awkward fist pump* That was pretty lame, lets try again. Yippidy you who de do da day!!!!!!! We have a blog! And so we'll say... okay i'm getting annoyed lets stop right here. (Lulu: PLEASE and thank you)

All joking aside, we are super pumped to start Kenna & Lulu. Our biggest hope is to bring a slightly awkward/quirky bit of sunshine into your day. Kinda like having a platypus in a tutu as your co-worker. Only there's two of us.

         you're welcome
