An Aniversary

Hey amigos! Kenna here, I AM SO HAPPY! Er mer gersh! You know that feeling when you cross the finish line and then look back and squeel?  That's how I have been all day! Today marks one year since I had spinal fusion surgery to mend my scoliosis.
(no worries, there are no pictures that will give you the heebee jeebees) It's been a long haul, and I can't wait to see what's next!
Left: Before. Right: After.
Not all scoliosis requires surgery. My first official x-ray in mid January of 2014 showed that it was at a 39 degree curve, but when we rechecked it in early March it had gone up to 50 degrees.
In all, I have 2 rods, 19 screws and a bar that links the two rods together. Oh, and a 15 inch scar.
But seriously guys, I had no idea how awesome it is to breathe!
(My heart/lungs where getting squished, so I was constantly feeling like I couldn't quite catch my breath)

So... ta da! That's a little bit about me!
I feel so incredibly blessed :)

Spring has Popped!

Spring truly has popped!
We have the most lovely "Sweet Acacia" (I think that's there name... ya pretty sure) Trees in our neighborhood, and they are blooming all over the place! Their little puff-ball-blossoms remind me of the truffula trees found in Dr. Seuss's book "The Lorax".

 Ta ta for now!

Your Scales and Arpeggios

As a piano/violin teacher it is important to look your best,
and this is by far my students favorite skirt! It is so fun!
"If you're smart, you'll learn by heart
What ev'ry artist knows:
You must sing your scales
And your arpeggios!"

Can you name that movie?

 Keep on practicing!

Evergreens and Red

There is always that odd spot in between seasons; it's not the bleak of winter, but you aren't really in the mood to turn into a Popsicle.
What to do, what to do?
My favorite go-to has been a light jacket/coat with a thicker scarf (preferably a chunky knit, with plenty of length)
-to add texture and interest.
Ooooo that sounds so sophisticated: "to add texture and interest"
that one is goin' in the album!
Scarf - Made by yours truly :) I am officially cured from knitting for the next decade.
Coat- from The Clothes Horse's Blog shop. Thanks Rebecca!
I hope you have a lovely day!

And Miles To Go Before I Sleep

Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening
  BY ROBERT FROST
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Other than getting my shoes stuck in the mud, this shoot was beyond dreamy. Being a city gal does have its perks, but taking a moment to admire the magic of the great wide wood makes me long to heed
