Yard Sale Rescues

I have always had a fascination with all things vintage. There is something about holding a piece of history that makes my all giddy inside! Everything that is pictured was found at a yard sale.

As I walked away with my arms full of treasures, I felt victorious and slightly guilty; Nothing cost more than 25 cents! The lady that was hosting the yard sale said that everything was either her late grandmother's or great-grandmother's belongings or something handed down, but she couldn't remember from where.
I almost felt as if I where rescuing these precious belongings from a terrible fate.
We need to value and protect our treasures! I'm not saying we need to save everything, (just imagine, "this is the wrapper from billy's first Popsicle") all I ask is please don't put your great-grandmother's hymn book in a yard sale.

The book titled "Our Pocket Notes" is the one with the beautiful hand writing down below.

Lulu Lives!

You may have been thinking: Where is Lulu??? Does she even exist?
I am here to put your mind at ease. Yes this still is Kenna typing away, but with Lulu's lovely face instead. Hopefully someday you will hear the melodious voice of Lulu (I wonder what you think my voice sounds like? Maybe along the lines of Don Knotts perhaps? Or what about Lucille Ball? I sure hope so.)

Where were we? Oh Yes, Lulu had just enough time to step away from her college classes, go shopping in my closet, and snap a few photos of this glorious outfit:

Lulu here! Okay, so most of the stuff is mine, but the beautiful skirt is Kenna's.
 And yes, I LIVE!

Hidden Gnomes

Can you see the hidden gnomes? One of the main reasons I love wearing these socks (sorry I gave it away) is because nothing is better than seeing someone you have been sitting next to for the past half hour exclaim: "There are gnomes on your socks!!!" I guess I am easily amused. If I am feeling extra witty, I exclaim: "really? that is fantastic!"

The boots I am wearing are actually men's shoes. I am such a rebel.
They are really quite nice! Because I wear a 9 1/2 or 10 in women's, I wear a 7 1/2 or 8 in men's. After reading the reviews, I found that I needed a 7(they run a tad big).

In short, if you want to buy the right size in men's shoes, size down two sizes. (this is what I did, I can't guarantee that it will work for all shoes)

A New Friend

Allow us to introduce a new member of the Kenna & Lulu family!
We aren't quite sure how old he is... but (according to our research) we're thinking somewhere around 200 years or so.
Isn't he beautiful?!?

Fall/Winter 1940

Hello! Kenna here. Sorry about the quantity of posting or lack there of. We have been very busy with other fantastic projects (like the new header! Don't you love it?!?! We sure do) Never fear, we have some exciting outfit ideas on the horizon.

1940's winter/fall fashion is my weakness.
I absolutely adore the way women embraced buttons, midi skirts, fun collars and kitten heels. All of which are right up my ally.
There is something about staying classy, yet warm that strikes my fancy.
I really enjoy looking through my grandmother's old photographs and seeing what she wore when she was young. There is one dress in particular that looks quite a bit like the one in the last photo.
Oh how I wish she still had it! At least she enjoyed it, rather than putting it at the back of her closet.

Thanks! XOXO, Kenna

You can call me Ruthie for short

Shoes (very similar)

Well how de do da day to you! A faux bob can really do wonders for a girl. It's always nice to have a change for the afternoon,
(and then succumb to taking out all of the millions of bobby pins.)
I hope you all have a wonderful Veterans Day! Say safe and remember to never mix cherry soda with chocolate milk. It tastes rather odd.

Here is to celebrating 25 years since the Berlin Wall came down!
In 1990, my mom had the opportunity to see it, and climb through.
She even chipped some pieces off and hauled them home. (after trekking across Europe with the jar bouncing around in her backpack... and taking them as a carry on. Air ports where a bit different back then.)

Oh how I wish she still had those shorts.

I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday!

To be inspired is a wonderful thing: Rebecca

The Clothes Horse

Rebecca from The Clothes Horse truly is inspirational. Seriously, perfection. I absolutely adore how she mixes whimsical and exciting pieces (a hamburger? Yes please) while staying timeless and classy. She has a knack for incorporating solid pieces that are simple but not stuffy, the perfect combination for the adventurous romanticist.

Simple yet charming

We did this shoot on the way to the grocery store. It was perfect!
All My Photographer extraordinaire (my Mom) had to do was roll down the car window. Ba-bam! Instant outfit photo without any extra effort.

I'm really loving the "dress over pants" trend. It is simple yet charming.

  1/2/3

I looked online for some posing tips, but I think I look more surprised than anything else. Thanks a lot inter-web. Expression turned into text: "open your eyes more, ya like that, now think about... is that piece of candy corn?"

Latest and Greatest: Fun prints/patterns for Fall

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6

Kenna here!
Prints are my weakness. Nothing says fall/winter more than a cozy solid plus a fun print. Printed/crazy coats are big. Watermelons, foxes + flowers, leopard, polka dots, you name it! Another trend I'm digging is the matchy-matchy trend. I have always enjoyed looking super "put together" (even if I'm not) and nothing is better than finding out that something you like is "in". Woot! Woot!

Later! - Kenna
